Lynne and Cheryl set up their Community Corner charity four years ago, which sells donated goods to raise money for worthy causes in South Tyneside. They have been dubbed “angels in the community” as they dedicate their days to making people’s lives better.

Northumbria officers Sgt Elliott Richardson and PCs Sarah Currie and Michael Otterson were on duty in Gateshead when they received a call about a man who had made threats of violence. After searching for him, they spotted him entering a pub, wearing body armour and carrying a rucksack. When PCs Currie and Otterson opened the door to the pub, they were confronted by the man holding a handgun.

Blake was in the pool while on holiday in France with his younger sister Tilly, his mum Victoria and her husband David last year, when he spotted another child’s lifeless body at the bottom.
