For the second year, the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards are being
sponsored by The Co-operative, the UK's largest mutual retailer.
The Co-operative is also the UK's fifth largest food retailer, the largest
independent travel retailer and its family of businesses also includes
pharmacy, funerals, motors and financial services.
This year's Awards will be promoted across its 4,900 stores and branches,
where Co-operative customers will be given the opportunity to nominate
winners. The Group has approximately 110,000 employees whoĆll also be
getting right behind this year's event.
Pride of Britain fits naturally with The Co-operative's long-established community values. As a business it has always supported the communities in which it trades and the extraordinary efforts of the people who live in those communities.
This year's ceremony will once again include a very special award, The Co-operative Local Champion Award.
Why we are delighted to sponsor Pride of Britain
By Peter Marks, Chief Executive, The Co-operative Group
"The Co-operative is delighted to be sole sponsor of the Daily Mirror Pride
of Britain Awards for a second year.
Last year we were humbled by the truly inspirational stories of each
winner, and no doubt this year's entries will bring deserved recognition to
some of the extraordinary people who contribute to our communities through
their tireless efforts.
As the largest mutual retailer in the UK, with thousands of outlets across
the country, we're committed to supporting the communities in which we
trade.
By supporting the Pride of Britain Awards, we're able to recognise and
reward those who have gone the extra mile to make their community a better
place to live.
On behalf of everyone at The Co-operative, the very best of luck to those
who are nominated; you continue to show us just what we can achieve with
hard work, determination, and passion."
